Tani’s History
Tani started song writing at a young age and was invited back to her country of birth, Papua New Guinea to write an album when she was 18. This would be a crossover of Pacifica and contemporary pop / hip hop music. The album was a Pacific region award winning number 1 album, with number one songs, that saw Tania perform at major stadiums and venues across PNG and in Australia.
Tani was spotted busking in Perth as a 12 year old by American producer and Grammy award winning musician, Lonnie Plaxico whilst touring with Casandra Wilson. Lonnie mentored Tani for many years before inviting her to New York as a 21 year old to be part of an invite only mentorship programme to develop her vocal, song writing, lyricism and performance skills. She would be mentored by some of New York’s finest musicians. She sang at iconic venues, like New York’s Blue Note CafĂ©, wrote songs for various artists and worked as a ghost writer in various New York Hip Hop studios during her time there.  Â
Tani continues to write for various artists and perform on tour with Flewnt and for select projects. She has written songs for SBS for National Harmony Week, and NITV for the Pacific Games in PNG. She was a lead performer and wrote and performed music in “On Our Beach” a WA award winning production. She was a writer and producer on Dr Richard Walley’s Six Seasons project and has worked in the studio and on live projects with artists like Birds of Tokyo, Flewnt, Downsyde, Beni B’Jah and JK47.
